The first modern rapid transit in India was Kolkata Metro in 1984. Following its success, India has witnessed a rapid adoption of the metro rapid rail transit in the early 2000s with it having expanded to almost Tier I and Tier II cities in India. Primerail team has played and is continuing to play a very prominent role in design and adoption of Ballastless track systems being used in all these Metro networks. India has one of the oldest and highest passenger-density suburban network in the world which is the Mumbai Suburban Railways. Since then several metro cities in India has adopted this system. Primerail has been instrumental in conducting alignment feasibility studies for Bangalore Suburban Rail. The work on India’s First Semi-Highspeed connecting the capital city of New Delhi to the various cities in the National Capital Region – NCRTC RRTS has already begun. Primerail along with its strategic JV partner KRTC is the detailed design consultant for the track works.
